Lakelyn Monahan is a senior at Monroe Central High School. During her four years of high school, she has participated in two years of Varsity cheerleading and one year of volleyball. She has attended the Academic Awards Banquet two years. She is also a PVC Academic Achiever. Lakelyn has taken part in several organizations including Spanish Club, Art Club, Key Club, HPAC, BPA, Interactive Media, and Travel Club. Her sophomore year she was Monroe Central’s Hugh O’Brian Youth ambassador. Lakelyn was awarded the STEM Challenge Award her sophomore year. Lakelyn is enrolled in College Credit Plus through Belmont College.  Her Junior year, she was chosen to represent our school as the Buckeye Girl State delegate. In her junior year she was inducted into National Honor Society. Lakelyn enjoys spending time with family and friends.  She has been a member of the Buckeye Kids 4-H club for the past 13 years and been a camp counselor for two years.  Lakelyn is a member of the Church of Nazarene and participates in youth group. Lakelyn plans to go to Muskingum University to earn a degree in Nursing. Her dream job is to become a neonatal nurse. She offers the following advice for underclassmen:  To never give up on something you want and to work hard because sometimes, what seems impossible is possible.
