Monroe Central High School - The School Where Great Things Happen

Wow, this year has moved by so quickly! Students are getting excited for summer and the energy level in the building is high. We are all so busy, scampering around to prepare for graduation, incoming students and the day-to-day events that never stop. It makes for a fun, fast-paced atmosphere.

Although we don’t have a lot of time to sit and reflect during the school day, I often find myself going over each day’s events as I’m making my hour and forty minute trek home. Lately, I’ve been reflecting more on the big picture. This year our students had yet another new principal, a new guidance counselor and a few new teachers. Change can be a challenge. However, we have ridden out the storm of change and are in our groove here at Monroe Central High School. Our students have become accustomed to the changes in expectation, our staff continues to work beyond the school day and our community┬áprovides support for our students, sports and clubs.

A quote that has been attributed to many famous thinkers of the past goes like this, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I’ll learn”. At MCHS we have made a huge effort to involve our students. We have maintained the athletics and clubs that have become foundational pieces of our students’ education. Nonetheless, we have added an eSports club, a Travel Club (starting with trips in the U.S.A. and in the future, overseas) and bowling. We’ll also be bringing back golf next year. Ultimately, we have gotten more students involved and are seeing a more engaged student body. It is my goal to see that our school spirit, our academic performance and our value to the community grow exponentially throughout the coming years. We have made much progress at MCHS but I feel the best is yet to come. Thanks for taking some time to read my blog today. God bless and have a great summer!
